August Second Saturday

This Saturday marks the Wynwood Art Walk and Design District Second Saturday. Things usually get started around 7 p.m. – this is one party in Miami that you don’t want to be fashionably late for. The festivities will end promptly at 10 p.m.

Second Saturday Art Walks showcase the area’s new exhibits. The galleries provide open houses featuring free admission and most of them offer free cocktails as well. Here is a list of links to help you navigate your way through this weekend’s art walk:

While you’re there, be sure to check out these Plum favorites:

Bakehouse Art Complex: a not-for-profit organization dedicated to attracting emerging and mid-career artists in South Florida.

Blank Canvas Concepts: features the work of some of the most talented and authentic contemporary West African artists.

Gallery Diet: representing a group of emerging and mid-career artists engaged in active dialogue around their created work.

Re’Cue
Rub shoulders with Japan's smart-set in this temple to chic in the Far East. Thanks to it's dark interior, artfully dimmed by table-top lamps, and a labyrinthine layout, it's all-too-easy to get lost. But who cares when you can sip on sake, or nurse a mighty beniotome to clear even the most jaded of palettes in readiness for a wooden bowl of tofu…

Bandol
Stylish, yet unpretentious, Bandol's wine list makes for impressive reading. Vintages from France, Italy, Spain and the New World rub shoulders with an extensive cocktail menu on which you can find old favourites along with more unusual concoctions like 'Ontology' and 'Fantasy'…
