Jolley, interrupted

Jolley, interrupted

Elizabeth Webby gave an appreciative review of Brian Dibble’s Doing Life: A Biography Of Elizabeth Jolley in last week’s Spectrum. However, last-minute printing problems mean the University of Western Australia Press has delayed publication until November. The hold-up is a minor glitch for Dibble, who proposed the biography to Jolley 20 years ago and researched it for a decade.

Religion fuels debate

Religious fundamentalism, terrorism and the death penalty are popular subjects with festival programmers these days. But the discussions were more intense at Ubud as we waited for news of the Bali bombers’ execution.

Single British guy on the prowl

I am coming over to stay in south beach in a few weeks from the UK.  I will be travelling on my own and I am after advice as to where to go to pick up some nice local ladies??  I am 33 and looking to meet the same age or older (30-50)

Anyone know the best pick-up bars etc?  Any singles parties?

How much do strip club dancers make?

Hi guys,

I have been enjoying some of your posts. I had a question (yes another one) about the strip clubs. I was wondering if there are any dancers on here or anyone who knows, dollar wise, what is being taken home now. I mean just dancing, none of the ?extra?. And is it possible to make decent money just dancing.

I worked at Cafe Risque and got spoiled there. Short shifts, pretty good money, and no touching. We had lap dances, but bottoms on and no touching. Full nudity on the stage. Is there something similar to that in the miami area.

I live in Orlando now and am thinking about going to miami on the weekends to work. But I don?t know dollar-wise what is going on over there. I have been told Goldrush and Tootsies. But I have been to Tootsies and they do all kinds of crazy stuff on the poles. I am not that into the pole work.

I am looking for the best place to make pretty good money. Ideally not having to be ?hands on?. So any info would be greatly appreciated…how long are shifts? what are the shifts? can you leave when you want? stage time required? house fees? most importantly money money money…what is the average? Is it slow there too?

Thanks so much guys!

Bengal Restaurant - best Indian food

Bengal Restaurant
2010 Biscayne Blvd
Miami, FL
786-683-5389

Went here today for lunch with my boyfriend and we loved it. I had been waiting and waiting for them to finally open then I got too busy so I finally got to go today. EVERYTHING was amazing. The naan, samosas, chicken tikka masala? I loved it all.

I have been to Ishq in South Beach and Mint Leaf in the Gables and trust me, this place was SO MUCH BETTER.

It is rare that I will give my business card as a concierge to the owner and say, ?This is my new favorite place, I am totally going to spread the word and come back many many times.?

We met Manuel the owner, he was really nice too. Truthfully, they beat the other two I have tried in Miami both in service and food. I compare them to this one little place that is my favorite in New York (I wish I could remember the name but I forgot, it?s by the Marriott East Side).

Try them out. You won?t be disappointed!!!

Formal dining ideas on a budget?

…if there is such a thing.

My name is Josh and I live in Ft. Lauderdale. I moved here just a few months ago and I?m still getting to know the area and still getting on my feet financially. Anyway, my girlfriend who lives in S. Carolina is coming down for the first two weeks in Dec. and I really want to show her a nice time. She is the oldest of 6 and she doesn?t get ?the princess treatment? very often considering she goes to school, works, and takes care of her brother and sisters.

She just modeled in a fashion show in Charleston and fell in love with one of the evening gowns she modeled. She is going to see if the designer will let her have it. If she does I would like to take her out for a gorgeous evening in Miami. I?ve been looking around online and I?ve found a great idea. http://www.islandqueencruises.com/gondola.htm I?d like to try to do this after dinner though. This is where I?m having a hard time. I?d like to try and find a nice quiet place where I can wear a nice suit (I wish I had a tuxedo) and she can wear her gown and not feel out of place. If there is dancing that would be a plus, just as long as the music doesn?t interfere with conversation. The only snag is that I don?t have much money. The most I can look at spending on dinner is $150. In all honesty I can?t afford that, but I really want this to be special for her.

If anybody has a place they know of that kind of fits the description I would VERY much appreciate the help.

And if anybody is wondering, I?m 23 and she?s 24.

Thank you
