Sir Pizza on Le Jeune Road

Sir Pizza on Le Jeune Road

Were you aware that a Sir Pizza has opened or will open in the Gables?

I was driving south on Le Jeune Road from US 1 and there it was on the side of the road, right across from the field behind Coral Gables High School. It didn?t look open so maybe it?s still in the works.

Has this already been discussed?

Where to go on Halloween Weekend?

I will be visiting MIA Halloween Weekend, which is also my BDay weekend. Anyone know a great annual Halloween event/club party that I have to go to. I?m looking for mixed music (hip hop/house) mixed, mixed crowd, lounge w good dance area, relaxed atmosphere, 25+-30yr old crowd. (Please no generic club reccomendations like Mansion/Crobar type). Somewhere that bottle service is a good option but won?t run me $1000++. Upscale?but not too snotty.

Lol sorry, I am very specific, it will be a group of about 8. I was a little disapponted in the places I went this past spring (Fountainbleu included) Thank you!

Any Updates on The Forge?

Are there any updates on The Forge?  Any construction?

I saw that Shareef Malnik has put his house up for sale.

Anything new on the location at ?Casanova??

Last time I was on site, they said they were refurbishing. But is there anything new there?
I?m talking about the bar/restaurant area of Casanova Suites, on Ocean and 5th, next to Ishq and TGI Fridays.

Review - Nalu: Omotesando

Review - Nalu: Omotesando
Far off the beaten path, on a backstreet between Omotesando and Gaienmae, Nalu Cafe packs a little something for everyone into a tiny space. It’s a smart cafe/art gallery that serves take-out during lunchtime, located above a groovy hair salon in the basement. You could, theoretically, pop in for a drink or a slice of cake while you’re waiting for your perm to set downstairs.

Tucked away on a quiet Gaienmae back street, directly across from a bird shop, this three-story part-time art gallery is a relaxing refuge for an afternoon coffee and pastry.

The Metro PCS Masquerade featuring Weezer
Depending on who you ask, Weezer are either the Patron Saints of Nerd Rock or a washed-up, older version of the latest punk-pop act. Either way this Halloween show figures to be a lot of fun, after all what can’t be fun about dressing up and hearing Buddy Holly, Hash Pipe and, hell, virtually all…

The Storytellers

Idiot Savant
Because “Idiot Savant” stars Willem Dafoe (”Spider-Man”), we’d love to recommend this show to everyone. But he’s working with Richard Foreman, the godfather of Gotham’s experimental theater, who’s not for everyone-unless you’re looking to get your mind blown by an acid trip of theatrical weirdness….

Pizza Rustica

I used to go to a pizza shop one or two streets in from collins rd. south end

I think it was pizza rustico. They had all types of single slice pizza. Veggies, meat, etc.

It that the name?

Did i give you enough to go on.

I want to send my cousin there.

Thanks

Best Burgers in the Tri-County Area

There?s been lots of talk about burgers lately, including Carlos? article about Cuban fritas, so I thought I?d start a new thread, because last night I went to Charm City Burgers in Deerfield Beach, and was absolutely wowed!  I had a HUGE ?Cowboy? burger, copious homemade fries, enough to share (delicious with a sprinkling of vinegar) and a designer beer for under $12.

My next favorite place is in South Beach?8oz Burger Bar on Alton Road.

What?s yours?

Rascal House Is Closing! (Update)

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE BAGEL!

Making the round of the blogosphere, the following news falls here today, sadly:  Rascal House is closing and the reasons are despicable.  Communities do need to evolve and I?m all for positive change, but not for completely wiping out history, especially at the expense of a few wealthy developers and snowbirds!

Let me tell you something:  in Madrid, there are restaurants that are hundreds?not decades?years old.  Some have become touristy, some are still enjoyed by the locals and many still frequented by all.  Do you think any Madrileño would stand up to having something that has withstood the test of time being torn down for the sake of newness?  I don?t think so.  And it just goes to show:  as represented by the greedy developers who are profiting from our proximity to the beach (otherwise they wouldn?t even look at us, trust me), Miami is still a young town.  A teenager, if you will, wanting to rebel against the frumpy grandparents of ehem, just yesterday.

As the Herald reports:

?Things change,?? said Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Norman Edelcup. ?We are creating a new, luxurious Sunny Isles Beach.??

The City Commission this month gave the restaurant?s owners, Jerry?s Famous Deli Inc., the go-ahead to level the existing one-story restaurant at 17190 Collins Ave. and build a 15-story mixed-use project that will include an Epicure market, office space and residential units.

So you can?t be luxurious and still have a historical landmark deli around, can you?  You can?t remodel, refresh your menu a bit, incorporate something tried and true into your new structure, can you? It?s the same baloney that closed Wolfie?s in 2002!

Lee Klein of Miami New Times Riptide couldn?t have said it better:

So shame on you, Ike and Jayson Starkman. And screw you, Whoreman Norman, Sunny Isles Beach Commissioners, and Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. Goodbye pastrami sandwiches, stuffed cabbages, matzoh ball soups, blintzes, babkas, bountiful bowls of breads and pickles on the tables…

So, for the record, Arnie and Richie?s, Miami Beach?s only remaining original deli, is still going strong and may it long rule as the only sovereign of pastrami!

How do you feel about development vs. preservation?
