1930?s Luxury
Recent photoshoot with beautiful Brazilian Lucilla and a 1934 Mercedes Excalibur. This shot was incredibly rushed as we were shooting guerrilla style, without a permit in a very public place. A beach cop gave us an earful, but we convinced him to let us shoot until the real cops showed up. With the [...]

Parkwest Afterhours ? 01.17.2009
Even the cold weather couldn’t keep people away from Parkwest at 5am to dance the morning away under the hypnotic soundtrack provided by Miami’s Sebastian. He played a fantastic combination of tech and prog house with a little bit of his signature scratching technique thrown into the mix as well. The morning was [...]

Ghost Traffic
I’ve been slacking on this blog for a month or so, but that changed starting today.  You are now able to read it in Chinese if so inclined!   I went on a midnight photography excursion the other night, and this was one of the by-products.  The image was shot on a draw bridge over the Miami [...]

The 80?s Live!
Another image from the Pamela Wasabi shoot, different outfit. She is standing in the shovel bucket of a massive crane! Note the old can of soda, that also looks like it’s from the 80’s. Check out Pamela’s wild style at WasabiFashionKult.com. Make Up by Natalia Lopez de Quintana.

Sex Kitten at Work
Pamela Wasabi is not your average construction worker… Check out her hot Harajuku inspired fashions at WasabiFashionKult.com. I think she’s enjoying those control levers too much…. Make Up was by Natalia Lopez de Quintana. This shoot was lots of fun.

Living Room ? 03.21.2009
Ft. Lauderdale has a hot new club in town. Living Room is a smartly designed nightclub with 2 main rooms, a wide hallway/room with 2 bars, raised VIP area, and an outdoor patio area. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the attention to detail. The venue is filled [...]

Popular Cuban food, dishes, cuisine

Guys I need some information I will be opening a Cuban restaurant in South Broward by the end of September can you share with me what are the best dishes, salds, soups, deserts, were can I buy Cuban meat I like butchers that know the meats. Publix does not know to much I think on Cuban meats I do not mind having to go to Dade County if I have too. I want the freshest meats and poultrys and fish, even if I have to pay more then at Publix. If I can by wholesale that would be best because I will be buying in quanity. I want butchers that know how to cut the meat well being American it makes it harder. Tell me about this dish Tasajo, I have never had that where can I go and buy it fresh. I asked someone at Publix and they never heard of it. Also some of the most common ingredients used in Cuban foods. What is the best non-stick pots or pans.

Thanks

I hope you can help

Opium Garden or Prive?

So I?m looking at New Years parties, and I think I narrowed it down to two: Opium Garden ($100) or Prive ($150).

I?ve heard good reviews about both, and I was leaning towards Opium but I saw its outdoors and Prive is above it and a little more exclusive. I?ve never been to either, which do you recommend? Is Prive worth the extra $50?

2008 Labor Day events

My boys and I are heading to Miami for labor day weekend. What are the happening beach-side day events and what are the big nightclub events?

Best Burgers in the Tri-County Area

There?s been lots of talk about burgers lately, including Carlos? article about Cuban fritas, so I thought I?d start a new thread, because last night I went to Charm City Burgers in Deerfield Beach, and was absolutely wowed!  I had a HUGE ?Cowboy? burger, copious homemade fries, enough to share (delicious with a sprinkling of vinegar) and a designer beer for under $12.

My next favorite place is in South Beach?8oz Burger Bar on Alton Road.

What?s yours?

MSTRKRFT @ LIV ? 07.01.2009
Toronto superstars MSTRKRFT destroyed Liv in Miami Beach with their unique style of electronic house. Even with crappy weather on a Wednesday night, Frank Sinatra’s former hangout was full of dance-crazy hipsters & club angels who were there to witness the power of these Canadian audio gangsters. The photos tell the tale. Highlights: MSTRKRFT @ [...]

Where to go to chill

hey all!

I?m new to this site but have read a few posts and everyone seems very helpful!
I?m coming over to Miami from UK with my bf in October.
We arrive at 6pm on Sunday so will be hungry and want to have a look around and maybe chill somewhere.
Where?s the best place to go for chilling, chatting etc? I have read that lots of clubs are dancing but as it?s just us 2 a more relaxed atmosphere would prob be best!!

Cheers!

WMC Swedish House Mafia ? 03.27.2009
South Beach Nightlife got a good jolt of energy when the Swedish House Mafia boys took over Mansion for the Miami Winter Music Conference. Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso brought the crowd on a wild ride of house music bliss over the course of the night. The capacity crowd was filled with [...]

Best Cuban Food in Miami?

I?ll be in town from Feb 21-Feb 24th and I really want to have some quality Cuban food.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!!

Food Poisoning Warning- Don?t read while eating!

I have food poisoning. Since 8pm last night I?ve had nausea and vomiting until 4am. I was so thirsty and couldn?t keep any liquids down..even a sip of water.

I ate at Cheeseburger Baby and the Delano yesterday. I had potato leek soup and nibbled on a friend?s seafood cobb salad, which did have lobster. Later in the day at Cheeseburger Icky I had 1/2 of a medium well cheeseburger. It makes me ill to type this but I would hate for anyone else to get sick. I?m convinced it was Cheeseburger Icky, and it must?ve been the lettuce or tomato.

Anyway, it?s horrible and not over yet. I don?t ever want to eat out again! Ever!

8 oz Restaurant on Alton Road?

Anybody try 8 oz yet on Alton and 11? I heard its by the chef at Table 8. Its real close by and I understand they have a veggie burger for us non-meat eaters.

Help planning a 21 birthday party

I need a little help. i am looking for a place to host a party, something like a cocktail dinner party for my 21st birthday, seeing that i am not much of a club goer. i found a place that seems cool, but still waiting to hear back from them, townhouse on south beach. does anyone know of any place i can look into. it can be just the venue, and i can always look for outside catering. i also looked into renting a house to host the dinner party, but i have yet to find one that will rent it for one night. Any thoughts on that?

any input will be greatly appreciated,
thanks

Question for Promoters About Nightlife for Locals

Hi Promoters,

You guys seem to know where what sort of crowds go where, so I?m wondering if you can advise me on a few things.

Where do sophisticated locals/people living here for a while tend to go? I?m guessing they don?t go to clubs that much, so maybe more of a happening restaurant bar/lounge?
Right now I?m thinking the room, playright, Monty?s?

Any other happening lounge or club?

Any lounges/club/restaurant bar scene that attracts more of a European crowd? There are tons of Italians/South Americans that live here and work in the service industry and I wonder where they like to go.

I?m not really interested in knowing Tantra?s good on Monday, Delano?s good on Tues..bc I feel that that?s where the tourists flock.

Can you recommend a beach bar/hotel pool bar that has a fun happy hour and attracts a nice crowd? Maybe some good piped in music or a dj spinning…but not Niki beach-just went there and it was all spring breakers.

I realize I?m not asking you typical questions, and that you may have to answer with venues different from the ones you promote. If you guys want to PM me the answers that?s fine.

I guess it?s because I?m going out alone and wouldn?t feel comfortable in the big clubs..although I did have fun at glass..And I?m really looking to make local friends and search for my European boyfriend…more than dance until 4 in the morning. Once I find the Euro boyfriend I will definately check out the bigger clubs!

Thanks guys!

Avoid Hot Tuna

Hot Tuna restaurant kind of new place @ washington and 8th is extremely overpriced for the quality of food, live show is more like a cabaret show, low class in my opinion. The Manager thinks he is doing clients a favor for letting them dine in the place and staff in general are rude and antagonizing, would not recommend that place at all? For that money you have dozens of options in sobe?

Burgers on the Beach

Hey,

I?m going to be concentrating on doing more reviews in South Beach. So far I?ve reviewed: 8 oz. Burger Bar, Bar-B-Que Beach, Cheeseburger Baby, Fatburger, Nexxt Cafe and The Big Pink. I was going to check out the Icebox Cafe but after that recent post, I?m not too sure. I?d really like everyone?s input. Thank you in advance.

What to do in case of rain?

Hello everyone,

A few friends and I are coming down this week for spring break (17-21) but from the weather forecasts I?ve been reading it seems like its going to be raining pretty much every day we?re down there :(

So worst case scenario that it does in fact rain, what are some alternate daytime activities to do (since outdoor pool/beach/hanging out outside) are all obviously out of the question. I dont think it matters much for the night time since we?ll probably be in a club/bar/etc. but during the day I refuse to stay inside my hotel room when im in beautiful Miami.

So please, any suggestions?

A newbies warning to SoBe club goers?

A newbies warning to SoBe club goers?

Hey all,

Just a warning to anyone who is approached by someone promising to get you into the best clubs in SoBe as a vip or with no waiting.

Now, I realize this is likely an isolated incident and I also realize that one of the major site contributors by way of posts, also provides this service.

Be very careful when dealing with a man named Marko Milosevic and his limo ride to entertainment. He broke a verbal agreement with our group and it cost us time, trouble and money, effectively ruining our moods and our night.

I will update this post with what actually happened so you will not have the same troubles.

Miami Eating Challenges

So we have been talking about Burger Beast?s attempt at The Quickie?s 4 Pound Burger challenge, and it got me to thinking about what disgusting feats of gastronomy South Florida has to offer. I will start the list here (we can omit The Quickie, since we have a thread on it already) and please add to it with any that you know of.

1. Sandbar – 5 Pound Burrito in one hour (Yes, I put this first because I?ve done it. 47 minutes)
2. Steve?s Pizza – 20 inch, 2 topping pizza and a 2 Liter of Coke in 45 minutes (2 people)
3. Shula?s 48 oz. steak

Hipster Scene

Hi! I just moved to Miami after years of coming to vacation here! I?m wondering if any one knows what?s going on in the hipster scene? I really like live music, riding bikes and anything alternative! I heard they have a lot going on downtown.
Anyways thanks!
